Dishwasher Jobs
Dishwashers help in creating a good impression in minds of restaurant customers by providing them with spotlessly clean plateware and glassware. They are responsible for providing guests with clean tableware and providing employees with clean and sanitized utensils and equipment. Dishwashers work in every establishment that serves food.
After customers leave the table, a dining room attendant takes the dirty dishes to the dishwasher. Dishwashers scrape, sort, and pile the dishes, and then load them into dishwashing machines. Dishwashers fill the machines with soap and turn them on. Once the dishes are clean, dishwashers unload them and put them in their proper places so that other kitchen staff can find them.
Dishwashers occasionally perform some of the tasks of dining room attendants. They are often responsible for other cleanup jobs too like such as cleaning floors, cabinets, sinks, and counter-tops.
Dishwashers must be able to: read menus; give clear, friendly greetings and farewells to guests, as well as being able to understand requests for assistance; clearly communicate guests’ needs to servers, cashiers, and managers; hear well in a loud environment; lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 60 lbs., throughout entire shift; calmly respond to angry guests; and work frequently in a hot and damp environment. Additionally, dishwashers must be neatly dressed and well groomed.
Dishwashers learn all their duties on the job. Some states require that dishwashers have a health certificate stating that they are free of communicable diseases.
