Assistant Food Service Director Jobs
An Assistant Food Service Director reports to and assists the Food Service Director in the planning and supervising activities of a department to provide service to customers, employees, and visitors. He/she does so by providing technical guidance and administrative direction over food planning, menu, and serving of meals, and in the direction and training of staff.
Assistant Food Service Directors also help Food Service Directors in overseeing multiple outlets in a venue. Coordinating several restaurants at once demands Assistant Food Service Directors to have essential leadership, time management, multi-tasking abilities, as well as knowledge of food service trends.
The primary responsibilities of an Assistant Food Service Director include: assisting the Food Service Director in developing and implementing procedures and guidelines for inventory, preparation, and food service; assisting the Food Service Director in the planning and development of menus; hiring and training staff members in accordance with company policies; assisting in unit forecast and unit accounting; ensuring that requirements for appropriate sanitation and safety levels in respective areas are met; and coordinating and supervising unit personnel regarding production, merchandising, quality and cost control.
