The Dining Services Director directs all food service operations within the community including all food preparation, all dining room operations and all dining delivery services. Purchases all food and manages inventory ensuring effective cost controls and vendor service and quality. Ensures the highest nutrition and food quality for the health and pleasure of the residents. Complies will all federal, state and local regulations to ensure sanitary and safe operations. Plans and executes entertaining dining events and themes in conjunction with Activities Director, Marketing Director and other administrative staff to optimize the life and pleasure of the residents. May also cater events as requested by residents or staff.
Key responsibilities include:
*Reviewing departmental policies and interpret them for personnel, residents, visitors, and family members as necessary
*Planning the department budget and maintaining costs within budgeted parameters
*Scheduling department working hours, personnel, work assignments, etc. to maintain quality resident care
*Attending and participating in workshops, seminars, and in-services to keep abreast of current changes in the health care field
*Routinely inspecting the dietary area and practices for compliance with current applicable regulations and as appointed by the Administrator
*Making written and oral reports to the Administrator concerning the operation of the food services department
*Developing and utilizing comprehensive inventory control procedures
*Purchasing food, supplies, and equipment as required to meet the needs of the department
*Ensuring that stock level of stape/non-staple food, supplies, equipment, etc. are maintained at adequate levels at all times to perform department functions
We seek the following qualifications:
*College degree in food service or hospitality management is preferred
*Must have at least 1 year experience in the food service industry in a supervisory role of others preparing food and servicing customers
*Must have experience to include management of food inventories and budgets
*Must have a working knowledge of functional discipline
*Must have the ability to address staff, residents, and visitors in a courteous and friendly manner
*Must have the ability to understand the dining and nutritional needs of residents and ability to incorporate residents’ desires into the dining services operation
*Must have extensive knowledge of food preparation and delivery
*Must be knowledgeable of all aspects of food service positions with food and beverage background
*Must have the ability to manage a food service operation budget providing 3 meals per day, 7 days a week to large numbers of residents and visitors
*Must have extensive knowledge of federal, state and local regulations regarding the safety of food preparation and handling
*Must have a willingness to communicate perceived physical and emotional needs of residents to other skilled staff to assist with addressing their care needs
