Category Manager - Foodservice','!*!
The Category Manager is a product management position focused on growth and profitability of the Link & Patty product categories in foodservice. The primary responsibility is to execute the Link & Patty product strategy to achieve annual operating plan objectives. This role has day-to-day responsibility for all Link & Patty category related activities including product forecasting, pricing approval, P&L management, development of marketing initiatives and management of cross functional project teams. Candidates should be comfortable leading teams that include R&D, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain and Marketing functional support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in development of long and short-term category strategies and tactics
Responsible to execute tactics in support of short and long term strategies that drive category profit growth
Support delivery of category financial commitments via P&L with an understanding of commodity markets
Responsible for sales and operations volume forecasts on a monthly cycle
Monitor capacity, inventory, service levels and product quality
Supports product change including value/quality improvement initiatives and line extension product launches
Provides direction to the Sales organization on category strategy/selling propositions and works closely with Sales and Customer Marketing on category opportunities
Work closely with Customer Marketing and Marketing Agencies on category selling tools, development and execution of promotional initiatives and sales communications
Monitor industry trends, market share, competitive activity and competitive product cuttings
Includes some degree of travel: customer visits, plant visits, sales meetings, conferences and trade events
Bachelor degree in a business or marketing related discipline required; MBA preferred
3-5 years of experience in brand marketing and/or related field
Knowledge of foodservice and/or CPG industry
Strong financial acumen
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work and excel as a project leader in a fast paced, changing environment
Strong written and verbal communication including presentation skills
Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
