Executive Chef 2','Full-time','Day','DOE','Food Service','Oregon-Portland','!*!Providence is calling a full-time Executive Chef 2 for a day shift position at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR.
In this position, you will:
Prepare, produce and serve courteous, friendly food service to employees, visitors and PHS staff for all occasions.
Play a primary role in menu development for the retail restaurant group and works with the purchasing supervisor and production manager to coordinate new product development.
Assist Food Court Management in the supervision and training of line service personnel to ensure that all restaurant food is presented and served in a professional and attractive manner.
Work in main production kitchen producing and coordinating the production of the daily menu(s). Assists the Production Manager supervise and train kitchen production staff.','!*!
Required qualifications for this position include:
Minimum 1-2 years formal culinary training plus 3-5 years experience as a chef in a large restaurant or institutional food service facility. (5-7 years experience as a chef or kitchen manager in a large volume restaurant offering a full menu including on-site baking and heavy volume catering may be substituted for formal culinary training.)
Valid County Health Department Food Handlers Certificate or Serv Safe Certification is required at the time of hire.
An excellent cooking skills and an extensive knowledge of various cooking techniques in order to prepare several daily menu items in a limited kitchen facility with heavy equipment constraints.
Ability to read, speak and understand English in order to follow recipes and read orders.
Experience in working in a team environment to accomplish common goals.
Some supervising experience in food production and/or restaurant services.
Extensive experience in leftover utilization with the skills to create recipes using previous knowledge and cooking experience.
Experience in formal catering including service set-ups, process and flow.
Experience in Garde-Manger food presentation.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Prefer a well-rounded background, which includes baking, pantry/cold foods, grill, breakfast-lunch-dinner hot food production, broiler and line experience
