Essential Job Functions:
Maintain and role model an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with primary emphasis on courteous and friendly customer service. Manage department operations in accordance with established department standard practices. Ensure the maintenance of the departments’ appearance and presentation. Hire, train and develop associates to meet the department needs. Makes recommendations as to hiring, termination, promotion, and demotion of service meat and seafood associates. Attain departmental financial objectives. Supervise performance of all duties and responsibilities of all meat and seafood associates. Use good judgment in the delegation, assignment, and follow-up required for the efficient performance of the department. Ensure the maintenance of accurate records, such as cutting list, COO, shrink, sales, and inventory. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
An enthusiastic coordinator of food experts that serves as a link between our brand, products and an outstanding shopping experience for our customers. Provides leadership and motivation within the departments. Serves as a model for extraordinary customer service and instills this value in associates. Ability to actively engage customers through a high level of salespersonship to encourage additional purchases and gain trial of new and signature products. A high school graduate or equivalent preferred. Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred. Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job. Ability to effectively communicate and provide customer service in English required. Must meet minimum age requirements.
Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a “Certified Food Safety Manager or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position in which it is required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Champion and influence the behaviors critical to the Sweetbay strategy. Perform Meat and Seafood functions as necessary. Provide recognition of accomplishments and offer constructive counseling when necessary. Treat all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect. Ensure department associates are properly trained through completion of training packet Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed as outlined. Develop product knowledge in all areas of the Meat and Seafood Departments. Conduct performance appraisals on all department associates according to company standards. Maintain effective work schedules to meet customer service standards as well as associates’ personal needs. Understand and use company tools such as; MPP, financial reports, scheduling, and ordering. Ensure operational and merchandising standard practices are followed to maximize profitability, paying special attention to priority categories. Maintain solid communication in the department and throughout the organization. Observe and ensure the compliance with company sanitation, safety, and food safety standards. Understand the causes and means for resolving and limiting shrink. Have total understanding of the departments’ Standard Practice Manuals and Program Manuals for each Meat and Seafood program. Perform all other duties as assigned.
1. Ability to use computers and other technical systems required to perform the job functions.
2. Lift cases or packages of meat and seafood weighing up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally.
3. Meet established volume activity standards.
4. Stand or walk 100% of the time while working in temperatures of 45 degrees F up to 60 percent of the time.
5. Perform repetitive grasping, twisting, reaching, and hand arm motions.
6. Be able to handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning materials, packaging materials, meat and seafood products.
7. Frequent bending.
