The Nutrition Assistant works as a team member with a Clinical Dietitian and Dietetic Technician, assisting in the provision of nutritional care and food service for patients in a designated area of the hospital. Duties include, but are not limited to enhancing/expediting meal service to patients by obtaining current diet information from the computer, visiting patients for food preferences, tolerances and allergies within 24 hours of admit. Assists in the menu selection and the recording of the amount of foods eaten for patients on calorie counts. Always follows approved protocols, policies and standards for nutritional care assistance to patients.
Minimum of one year food service experience.
Successful completion of post secondary coursework preferred. State of Washington Food Handler's card.
