Essential Job Duties
Batch cooking in an institutional food service environment.
Must be able to cook (roast, bake, grill, fry, saute, steam, stew & boil according to recipe).
Follow standardized recipes to ensure food quality, appearance and taste.
Responsible for making sure items needed for the next meal are pulled and thawed properly.
Assemble and mix ingredients for soups, sauces & gravies according to specifics of standardized recipes.
Help check-in, store and move food supplies prior to and during preparation and productions.
Transport cooked foods to hotboxes and help set up the serving line.
Supplies/supports front of the house operations with back-up food to ensure no lag time between changing out food items.
Prep-Cook & Cook will perform necessary cleaning of utensils, workspace, pots and pans, tables, shelves & equipment as well as garbage removal and sweeping floors.
Prep-Cook will also prepare raw meats and vegetables.
Prep-Cook will be responsible for any deep-frying.
One (1) year of previous cooking experience required for Cook.
One (1) year of previous food service experience for Prep-Cook.
Departmental Required Skills
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and peers.
Maintain Grade A sanitation rating of 95% or better.
Provide exemplary customer service to every guest.
Read and follow instructions.
Work well as part of a team.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Prefer Cook candidate have 2 years cooking experience in an institutional setting, casual dining or a high volume buffet restaurant.
Prefer Cook candidate have leadership experience as a lead crew member and possess good leadership and teamwork skills.
Cook should be able to follow instructions with minimum supervision.
Prefer Cook candidate have leadership experience as a lead crew member.
